Total of Funeral Directors' Charges:
In addition to our own charges the funeral account will also include any disbursements, or payments due to other parties, which have been incurred. The funeral director will advise you of their likely nature and cost when making the arrangements for the funeral and, as we pay these third party fees on your behalf, we do ask that the cost of these is paid three working days before the funeral. If this payment is not made the funeral cannot go ahead. All disbursements known at the time of making the arrangements will be shown on your written estimate.
Unlike many of our competitors we promise that all disbursements you need for the funeral will be charged to you at the rate we pay for them. We never add any 'mark up' to them or receive a discount which we don't pass on to you.
An example of a typical list of disbursements for a cremation is shown below:

Funeral Charges are exempt from V.A.T.
Cremation? But we wanted burial ...
The above prices are for a cremation. To find our price for a burial simply deduct the 'Sussex' cremation coffin and replace it with one suitable for burial from our range of coffins. Calculating disbursement costs for a burial is a little more complicated as it depends on the specific requirements, e.g. the cemetery or churchyard fees, the depth of the grave and whether there is a headstone on the grave which will need removing. You can use our Quotation Request Form to get an accurate price but, as an example, the price charged by Hastings Borough Council for a local resident for the purchase of a plot at Hastings Cemetery and the interment fee is £2,196.
We ask you to pay for the disbursements three working days before the day of the funeral. If this payment is not received the funeral cannot go ahead. The final invoice for our charges is sent to you a few days after the funeral and we ask that you kindly pay it within 60 days from the date of the invoice. After 60 days we reserve the right to charge interest on any overdue amount at the rate of 2% per calendar month or part thereof until the account is settled in full.
For funerals where the client is making an application to the Department of Work and Pensions for a payment from the Social Fund, the difference between the amount we estimate the DWP may pay and the total cost of the funeral must be paid three working days before the day of the funeral. If this payment is not received the funeral cannot go ahead.
For funerals where our client (the person instructing us in the arrangements) is not resident in the UK, the total cost of the funeral must be paid three working days before the day of the funeral.
We accept payment by cash, cheque, debit or credit card and via internet banking.

¹Owing to the high cost of purchasing and maintaining a fleet of limousines, all funeral directors keep a limited number of vehicles and hire in additional limousines as necessary. If you ask us to provide limousines for the funeral and we need to hire in from a third party, the cost will be from £330 per vehicle. If the charge from the third party to us is more than £330 we will pass this cost on to you without adding anything on.
