Ashes Urns and Caskets
After a cremation comes the decision about how your loved one’s cremation ashes should be laid to rest. We are able to provide comprehensive advice regarding the many options available. If they are to be taken home or buried in a cemetery or churchyard plot, there is a choice to be made of the type of container.
For cemetery or churchyard burials there is normally a three-way choice of container:
- A wooden casket such as the "Warwick" solid oak casket (illustrated). It comes complete with an engraved nameplate.
- A metal urn (illustrated).
- Cremation ashes can be returned loose to the soil, in which case the temporary plastic urn provided by the crematorium (illustrated) is the best choice.

Temporary plastic urn
This simple plastic urn is a good type of container if ashes are held temporarily prior to scattering.
We can provide one if you would prefer it to the cardboard box supplied by Hastings and Eastbourne Crematoria.

Scatter Tubes
Scatter tubes - many different designs and five different sizes. The tube will hold the cremation ashes safely until the moment of strewing, when you simply push in a perforated disk in the lid and release them to the elements. Click here to see the wide choice of designs on our supplier's website. For most adults a 240 cubic inch scatter tube would be necessary. The smaller ones will hold a token amount.
